Established in 1956 by two brothers keen to leave their impact on the Emirati market, Omeir Bin Youssef Group first started out as Khalifa and Omeir Travel Agency and was home to a modest four employees. The company’s first business forays spanned the travel industry with services such as booking, airline representation, cargo handling and airport ground-handling services. By 1967, the company had already set on its path to expansion, acquiring British Petroleum and becoming sole distributors of brands such as Rothmans, Palmolive and Colgate.
In 1971, Mr. Khalifa Bin Youssef passed away and Omeir Bin Youssef Group was officially founded. While the circumstances were unfortunate, the group had a new energy to it and by 1976, OBY had over 100 employees under their helm. Over the course of the next few years, OBY would go on to successfully venture into automotive services and real estate. Currently, the company counts commercial and residential real estate development as one of its most prolific specialties. In parallel, the company continues to sponsor internationally-acclaimed companies in Abu Dhabi such as ABB.
Over the years, the company’s financial success and independence has enabled it to stay true to its vision and values. A man of passion, self-worth and great integrity, the late Omeir Bin Youssef was known for his altruistic work and his involvement in the community.
A family man first, a charitable heart second and a prolific business mind third, it was his vision that inspired Omeir Bin Youssef Group’s path to become one of today’s most respected corporate giants.
Over the course of his life, he won many awards for his work in charity and went on to build a great number of mosques around the Emirates. He followed a rigorous work ethic that he transmitted to his children, and possessed an inherit understanding of business and culture and their mutual influence on each other.
Today, his children follow those same beliefs and values of quality, humility and charity that they inherited from him as they emulate his example and continue to grow, expand and reinforce Omeir Bin Youssef’s presence across the world.
